Nearly Half Of Marketers Say Data Is Underused, Teradata Survey Reveals

Teradata logoThe Teradata Data-Driven Marketing Survey 2013 revealed that while many companies are moving toward data-driven marketing, nearly half of marketers agree that data is the most underutilized asset in their organization. In response, many companies are starting in the marketing department as they look to make operational adjustments to tighten marketing-IT integration.

The survey was conducted by Teradata Applications, a division of Teradata that is focused on business, marketing and analytical applications, and services. More than 2,200 global marketers responded to the survey.

Salesforce Incorporates Data.com Into New Sales Performance Tool

Salesforce data.com logosSalesforce.com introduced Salesforce Sales Performance Accelerator, a tool that combines the company’s Sales Cloud with targeted lead and customer data from Data.com. The new application also includes coaching and feedback tools available in Work.com.

B2B firms such as DocuSign, an electronic signature technology vendor, and Enterasys, a provider of network infrastructure and security solutions, are currently using Sales Performance Accelerator.

Study: Marketers Stumble Over Data-Driven Decision-Making

According to a recent Corporate Education Board (CEB) report, marketers still struggle to use data effectively when making business decisions. In fact, most marketers heavily rely on gut instinct, intuition and past experiences, which causes disconnects between what the data tells marketers and what they assume to be true based on their own intuition and experiences.

The result, according to the report, is a tendency towards “bad decision making and wasted resources.”
