Recent research has pointed to growth in the marketing automation category slowing from its break-neck pace of last year, but recent results from leading vendors support strong momentum for the category heading into the second half of the year.
Several vendors reported June was their strongest month ever in terms of adding new customers, and leading providers reached further milestones in their growth.
For example, Eloqua surpassed the 1,000-customer mark, bringing its total user base to about 80,000. Marketo reported a 140% year-over-year revenue increase, adding more than 170 customer wins throughout the quarter, and signing more customers in June 2011 than any previous month in the company’s history. HubSpot added 600 new customers in Q2, in the same period it officially entered the marketing automation space through the acquisition of Performable.
Other key Q2 vendor performance metrics include:
-
- Pardot added 120 new customers (surpassing 600 clients and 10,000 individual users), and a 127% increase in client count over Q2 2010, reporting its best performing quarter to date.
