LinkedIn Acquires Fliptop To Build Predictive Capabilities

LinkedIn has acquired Fliptop, a predictive sales and marketing software provider, for an undisclosed fee. The purchase intends to enhance LinkedIn Sales Navigator and potentially boost the company's marketing offerings.

Fliptop will continue to support its existing customers, but will not to take on any new clients, according to Doug Camplejohn, Founder and CEO of Fliptop.

"We will also be reaching out to our customers shortly to discuss winding down their existing relationship with Fliptop," Camplejohn noted in a recent in a blog post highlighting the announcement.

LinkedIn plans to integrate a select number of Fliptop employees into areas such as its engineering and product space. However, the company does not plan to expand Fliptop's products.

"The Fliptop team brings to LinkedIn expertise that will help us accelerate our Sales Solutions product roadmap and make Sales Navigator even more effective," said David Thacker, VP of Product at LinkedIn, in a blog post. "And as the worlds of online sales and marketing rapidly converge, we believe there are opportunities to leverage Fliptop’s technology to achieve our broader goal of creating the most effective B2B sales and marketing platform."

LinkedIn has acquired multiple companies over the past year, including Bizo for $175 million and Lynda.com for $1.5 billion this past April.
