iCentera announced yesterday that it has been awarded a patent (U.S. Pat. No. 7,774,378) for an invention designed to deliver a hosted/SaaS-based sales enablement platform. This patent corresponds to foundational aspects of the sales enablement intelligence center needed to deliver an enterprise-class sales enablement solution that can be deployed by virtually any BtoB sales organization.
iCentera, which stands for "intelligence centers for a new era of marketing and sales," has a long history in the sales enablement market. The company's founders envisioned a cost-effective sales enablement platform designed to empower business users to easily deploy and manage a sales enablement platform with the ability to generate custom sales and marketing portals that adapt in real time to changing aspects of the customer's business. Central to the vision was minimizing the complexity of the technology and eliminating the need to deploy and manage the hardware and software infrastructure.
"We take great pride in what we have accomplished as pioneers in the sales enablement market over the past 20 years, and our customer-centric focus shapes our product direction and gives us a unique perspective when deploying new customer solutions," said iCentera CEO Craig Nelson. "This patent covers the foundation of our sales enablement solution and we see the USPTO's patent award as yet another testament to our early thought leadership and technological innovation in the rapidly emerging sales enablement market."
According to the company, over 170,000 subscribers are enabled through iCentera solutions, and there’s been over 10,000 intelligent portals built to-date for customers, prospects, and various selling communities.
The iCentera 360-Degree Sales Enablement Platform is designed to provide a hosted intelligence center accessible through web browsers that allows privileged users to set up and configure the platform and portals through which visitors can access content. The system includes a content repository and content manager, a communication portal and developer, and a real-time analytic engine.
