'Lean Startup' Expert Eric Ries Joins HubSpot Advisory Board
On Wednesday, marketing automation vendor HubSpot announced that Eric Ries has joined the company's advisory board. Ries is a key proponent of the "lean startup" methodology, which emphasizes iterative development, short product-release cycles and aggressive experimentation as part of the startup process.
Ries has also served as a venture advisor at Kleiner Perkins, is the author of The Lean Startup, and writes the Startup Lessons Learned blog.
"I've known Eric for many years and have been following his work avidly," said Dharmesh Shah, CTO and Co-Founder of HubSpot, in a company statement. "Not only was HubSpot built with lean startup principles, I believe this evidence-based approach to iteration and learning is directly relevant for organizations looking to transform their marketing."
Ries joins Dropbox CEO Drew Houston, Sequoia Capital's Jim Goetz, Gary Vaynerchuk,Chris Brogan and several others on HubSpot's Advisory Board.
Act-On Software Announces Q3 Results, Revenue Growth
Marketing automation provider Act-On Software on Thursday announced its financial results for Q3 of 2012. The company reported its 11th consecutive quarter of sequential growth, including revenue growth of 289 percent compared to Q3 of 2011. The company also announced that it added 280 new customers during the quarter.
In September, Act-On announced that it had raised $16 million in Series D funding to support the company's growth.
The Pedowitz Group, Demandbase Announce ExactTarget Partnership
The Pedowitz Group and Demandbase this week announced a strategic partnership with interactive marketing technology provider ExactTarget. The companies stated in a news release that they will deliver solutions for users of ExactTarget's Interactive Marketing Hub, focused on improving lead capture and demand generation.
