Act-On Appoints New CEO, Announces Restructuring To Boost Product Development

Act-On Software announced that it has appointed Kate Johnson as its new CEO. The company added that it will “consolidate North American operations” to its Portland, Ore., to better align customer-facing departments of the business with its product development team to fuel product growth.

Johnson has served as Act-On’s CFO since 2015. Prior to joining Act-On, she held senior-level positions at companies such as Jive Software, InFocus and Xerox. She will succeed outgoing CEO Andy MacMillan, who joined the company from Salesforce in late 2015.

“We see a window of opportunity in the marketplace driven by the fact that marketers need more than just automation,” said Johnson in a statement. “We have determined that we need an immediate, intense focus on delivering product innovation to take advantage of it. This is a rebalancing of our resources where more investment will now go toward product development and integrating our operations, allowing us to leapfrog competitors and provide a marketing solution that anticipates behaviors, automates marketing processes and accelerates time to revenue.”

While Act-On stated that it plans to expand its Portland presence — aiming to hire up to fifty new employees in the first half of 2018 — the company added that the company’s northern California facilities in Roseville and San Mateo will close. Selected employees from both sites will be offered relocation to Portland.
